Bangkok joins hands with the private sector to drive the 'Day Care Service' initiative, promoting comprehensive elderly healthcare.

The Social Development Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, in collaboration with Chersery Home International Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for the Elderly, has launched a joint project to provide elderly care and health promotion through a Day Care Service model a comprehensive daytime care service for seniors. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of life of elderly residents in the capital sustainably, through proactive health promotion activities and specialized health screenings conducted by a team of doctors and multidisciplinary professionals

This project represents a significant integration of collaboration between the public and private sectors, aimed at developing an elderly care model that aligns with the context of modern urban society. Within the Day Care Center, various rehabilitation activities are organized to promote physical, mental, and social well-being. In addition, specialized medical services are provided including eye and retinal health screenings for elderly participants to help prevent common age-related eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, which are major causes of vision loss among older adults.

This marks another significant milestone in the collaboration aimed at enhancing the overall quality of life for the elderly in Bangkok. The initiative aligns with the citys vision to become a Health Capital a metropolis that not only ensures the well-being and stability of its residents but also promotes equality in access to healthcare services, enabling all elderly citizens to receive comprehensive and inclusive care.

This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and its private sector partners to establish a model for comprehensive and sustainable elderly care. It serves as a vital driving force in preparing Thailand for a fully aged society, while also paving the way for future partnerships at both regional and international levels.
